Karine Miller - Treasurer

Karine Miller has been on the Executive Body since 2005 and is a Board Member of the national organisation (AAMFCHN). Karine is the CHNWA Newsletter Editor and has been a member of the Conference Committee in 2008, 2010, 2012 and Chairperson of the Conference Committee in 2006. Karine is a Registered Nurse and Midwife, holds a Graduate Diploma in Nursing Education, Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Nursing (Midwifery), a Child and Community Health Certificate, a Sexual and Reproductive Health Certificate and a Master of Nursing (Community Practice). Karine lives and works in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, and has held the position of Regional Coordinator Community Nursing, Goldfields since 1998.




Margaret Abernethy - Committee Member

Margaret has worked with the WA Country Health Service since 2011, prior to taking up the role of Area Director, Margaret worked in the Pilbara  Region in Northern WA as the Population Health Director. Margaret is a registered Nurse, Midwife, and Child Health Nurse and also worked for 5 years in Statewide Policy as the senior policy officer child health.  As the Area Director, Margaret provides program  and policy support for public health, child, school and child development services as well as program leadership for the Trachoma and Rheumatic Health Disease Programs on behalf of WA Health.

Catherine McDougall - Committee Member

Catherine McDougall has been a member of the CHNWA executive since 2016.
Catherine is a Child Health Nurse, IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant ) and Registered Midwife .
She lives in beautiful Albany where she works as a Child Health Nurse.

Kathleen Smedley - Committee Member  

Kathleen Smedley was voted to the Executive in 2012. She holds a Bachelor of Nursing (ECU), Post Grad Dip in Public Health (Curtin) and a Post Grad Cert in Maternal, Child and Family Health (Flinders Uni). Kathleen has worked for many years in the Goldfields as well as working in Queensland and Victoria. Her original career path was in the acute setting working in ICU and for the RFDS but a passion for Child and Family health now sees her residing in Albany where she works as a Maternal and Child Health Nurse.
