About Us

CHNWA is an organisation for Community Health Nurses - and people with an interest in the area  - based in Western Australia. CHNWA's objectives are to uphold, protect and advance the interests of Community Health Nurses. CHNWA initiates measures that promote high standards of nursing knowledge and practice by its members. Some of the projects that CHNWA has undertaken in the past include:

Organising professional development to update nurses about current research and practice.
Sourcing speakers and workshops on a regular basis.
Development of the “Competency Standards for Community Health Nurses".
Development of the “I am a community nurse” package to present an overview of the community health nursing role.
Writing submissions on behalf of community health nurses in response to current issues.
Representing community health nursing on various committees. Working collaboratively with other groups on clinical issues.
